EDUCATION, REASON, FEELINGS, AND PASSION
Okay,
according to my friends, what is education? What is the function of education
according to you? To make money, will education later get a certificate that
will be used to get a job? The higher our education level, the higher our
chances of getting an income at a job later when we work. Is that the purpose
of our education?
However,
like it or not, it is a reality and we will definitely feel it and do it. Okay,
maybe next time we will deepen the problem. Because this time, we will discuss
a quite different problem, but it has little to do with what I explained
earlier.
Okay,
this time, it was delivered by a philosopher, namely Aristotle, talking about
education. That according to him, education is not just a matter of reason.
Rather it gives a higher feeling to a mind, which is useful in regulating lust.
What
do you think is contained in Aristotle's thoughts about education? Okay, I will
try to review it little by little, and this is my personal opinion in reviewing
this.
That
perhaps what Aristotle meant about education is that education is actually or
should not only be in increasing the intelligence quotient, in the form of a
number level which is a benchmark for a student's intelligence. Or we are also
familiar with the intelligence of the brain. However, by looking at what was
expressed by Aristotle, it is not only a matter of intellectual intelligence
which is the main topic in education, but education is also a matter of moral
quotient and religious quotient. Why is that?
Education,
the meaning of education is not only reason but also by adding feelings to a
mind, these feelings are moral quotient and religious quotient. By combining
reason and feeling will regulate or control a human action in his life. Because
the output in the form of human action is not only from the mind but also from
the lust of a human being.
Okay,
from here, friends, try to understand what I have explained. If you do not
understand, for example, we try to study an example. What is the relationship
between education, reason, feelings, and lust?
For
example, the high level of corruption in a country, because actually corrupt
people come from people who are educated, meaning that they have taken
education at universities with bachelor's, master's, and even doctoral degrees.
Then what makes them act to commit corruption?
Then
when we apply Aristotle's thinking to this phenomenon, we will see that it
means that education that they focus on is only intellectual intelligence, not
followed by moral quotient and religious quotient which in the end produces
defective output, they will put their hearts and feelings aside to promote
their passions.
